Join the Randolph Arts Guild on Tuesday September 28th, from 12pm to 1pm as they host their popular “Lunch and Learn” series. From Within to the Surface artists Amy Sanders and Ron Philbeck will answer questions and share information about their ceramic processes and experiences. The event is free. Please bring your own lunch.

From Within to the Surface is an exhibition of new ceramic works by Julie Wiggins, Amy Sanders, Ron Philbeck, Jennifer Mecca, Adrienne Dellinger, and Greg Scott. The exhibition is ongoing through September 28th, 2010.

These six ceramic artists have shown regionally and nationally together over the past five years. This exhibition of new work features both decorative ceramics as well as utilitarian items. Styles range from wood fired stoneware to decorated porcelain and earthenware. The title of the exhibition, From Within to the Surface, reflects the methods in which these artists create strong clay forms that are married to various decorative and/or surface treatments. Examples include multiple and layered glaze, mishima inlay, sgraffito, sprigged colored clay, and clay textured surfaces. Over 50 pots are be featured.

For additional information contact the Randolph Arts Guild at 336-629-0399 or visit www.RandolphArtsGuild.com. The Guild is located at 123 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC 27203.

To read and see more images of "From within to the Surface" exhibition both Ron Philbeck and Jen Mecca have wonderful blog posts that capture the evening and set up at the Sara Self Gallery.

Randolph Arts Guild: Artists Hang Up Today!--Dec. 11

Deliver Work- Friday, December 11th, 2009 (10am – 6pm)
Opening Reception – Tuesday, December 15th, 2009 (5:30pm – 7:30pm)
Exhibition dates – November, December 15th – 31st, 2009

Have you ever thought about having your artwork hang in a gallery? Well this is your chance. In December, the Randolph Arts Guild is opening its gallery for artists of all media and from all walks of life to share their works of art with the community. The premise is simple; each artist is allowed to bring a piece of his or her art to hang up and display.

Whether you’re an amateur or a professional, or even if this is the first work of art you’ve ever created, this is the prefect time to share it with others. All works are to be delivered on Dec. 11th, 2009 from 10am – 6pm, with the artist’s name, address, and title on the back. If the work is for sale, please list the price, but know that 25% of the sale price goes to support the Randolph Arts Guild.

The Opening Reception will be held, December 15th, 2009 from 5:30pm – 7:30pm. Please note that these dates differ from the published 2009 Sara Smith Self Gallery schedule and as always the opening reception will be free and open to the public.
